Food: Oven Lisboa (Indian and Nepalese), Mezze (Syrian), Luka (Asian Fusion), Rhodo Bagels (NY style bagel sandwiches, don’t skip their cookies), A20 (try the pastrami sandwich and specialty coffee), Pomme Eatery (small plates), Las Gringas/Duro De Matar (Elevated Mexican taqueria), Rumi Lisboa (Mediterranean), Heim Cafe (cute brunch spot, get there early to avoid a wait), Lupita (naturally leavened pizza), The Folks (brunch), Hink’s Deli (amazing sandwiches), Breakfast Lovers, Karater Georgian Bistro, Pita.gr (Greek, located in Caparica), Blitz Pizza (incredible pizza in Caparica)

Dessert: Bike Bakery (best cinnamon roll of my whole life, get one in the morning when they are warm), Fabrica de Nata (pastéis de nata are best eaten hot, their Sintra location is the most fresh), Myka (authentic Greek frozen yogurt with fancy toppings), Do Beco (slow fermentation bakery & restaurant), Landeau Chocolate (the chocolate cake is out of this world!), Nannarella (icecream), Manteigaria (2nd favorite pastel de nata with a few locations around Lisbon), Isuno (basque cheesecake), Chocolataria Ecuador (despite the name the chocolate is made in Portugal), Gleba (for cookies and fresh bread), Juliana Penteado Bakery (elevated pastry), Nivà Cremeria Gelateria Italiana, Alcôa bakery (variety of Portuguese desserts), Santini Ice-cream

Coffee: Fabrica, Marquise da Mobler (aesthetic cafe with lush back patio and good pastries), Nerv, Empanar (coffee served in artisan ceramics plus organic mediterranean empanadas), A Flor de Selva (local roaster to pick up whole and ground beans), Unity Coffee Roasters (great spot for a cup of coffee and cottage cheese crepes in Cascais/Oeiras)

Things to see: Classically Portuguese park Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara with beautiful views of the city, Estufa Fria botanical garden, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian art museum and gardens, Cabo do Roca (do the short hike to the right of the lighthouse for the best views), Palácio Nacional da Pena, Monserrate Palace and Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra

Beaches in driving distance: Praia do Ribeiro do Cavalo and Praia das Bicas near Sesimbra, Praia de Galapos in Portinho da Arrábida, Praia da Mata in Caparica
